Established in 2000, RD-TEK currently manufactures and supplies emission measurement systems, golf systems, automotive training & measurement equipment, among various other simulators, etc. based on the advancements it has made in meter technology to date, with golf currently being its main area of business. Bluetooth technology and 3D video technology was integrated with the meter technology of RD-TEK’s golf apparatuses to efficiently aid golf practice while simulating the sensation of actually enjoying golf in the field while indoors. These products have taken the golf industry by storm and have catapulted RD-TEK among the ranks of the world’s top manufacturers of golf apparatuses. Based on its performance to date, RD-TEK’s strategy is to expand its golf business by interweaving business both on and off line. Based on RD-TEK’s state-of-the-art technology, which has given rise to integrated swing analysis data, assembly of personal media as well as online golf lessons from renowned lesson pros in remote regions, purchase of golf supplies, golf course booking & membership sales, establishment of various forms of communities, among various other ways to enjoy golf beyond the field have been made possible at the same time. In order to accomplish just this, RD-TEK currently operates ‘thegolf.com’, the top golf portal site in the world. The company is also keeping its eyes open to pioneer new domains of business. A new concept of beauty device is currently under works with the support of the SMB Administration’s Technology Development for Business Revitalization Division. These products take advantage of cutting edge technology, with products that maximally consider user convenience, as colorful ideas are industriously applied to multifunctional high-end equipment for beauty salons. For instance, a hair washing chair that constantly supplies water at an even temperature (temperature indication, adjustable) from a domed cap installed beneath and over the customer’s head while also enabling the hair dresser to adjust the water pressure using a foot petal. Even for hair cutting chairs, through Bluetooth earphones, you can listen to music while viewing a monitor to catch broadcasts and with a monitor installed in front of the chair and a camera installed above the head in all directions, you can see yourself from every angle. RD-TEK plans to officially mass produce these products sometime next year, engaging in marketing activities targeting high-end consumers. RD-TEK’s products have been well received in the market and sales have continuously been on the rise. Last year’s sales figure amounting to some 6 billion won was broken this year with a staggering 9.1 billion won in just the first half of the year. By the end of the year, RD-TEK’s goal is to achieve sales topping 15 billion won. Starting with 500 million won in exports to China this year, plans are underway to steadily export golf devices to each region throughout the world this year and the outlook for exports looks bright. There also plans to export the technology of automobile testing equipment to Malaysia. RD-TEK also boasts various certifications and patents. In the year of its establishment, 2000, RD-TEK was selected as an exemplary venture company by the SMB Administration and was selected as an Inno-Biz in the ensuing year. In the same year, the company acquired ISO certification and was approved by the National Institute of Environmental Research for the environmental measurement system of its chassis dynamometer (V type, S type, K type). This year, the company was selected as a promising exporter and a company of cutting edge technology by both the SMB Administration and the Ministry of Science & Technology. RD-TEK’s strength comes from its very own technology research center. With a mere 35 employees, its strength lies in its technology, boasting the capacity to reap over 10 billion won in sales annually. The corporate technology research center operates with the goal to establish a stable profit base and create high value-added returns for the company by developing items in-house in the field of megatronix, which integrates machinery with electronics. Apart from new concept beauty equipment, the current technology research center is also working to develop various items in the simulation industry. CEO Choi, Seung-hwan boasts, “Our company is pioneering diverse business items based on meter technology,” and adds, “We plan to extend the business in the future with avant-garde ideas.”
